Hammer of Glory Relay

Every year The Hammer of Glory (aka the HOG), the omnipotent symbol of Philly Beer Week, makes an epic trek through numerous Philadelphia beer bars and breweries until it arrives in time for the opening tap of Philly Beer Week. Each venue figures out a different (and hopefully fun) means to get the HOG to the next location.

Once again the Philly Roller Derby have taken on the challenge of skating the HOG the 4.5 miles from Hop Angel to Grey Lodge. Help us cheer them on as they depart.

Also joining the Philly Roller Derby will be a bike caravan which you are invited to join. Just show up with your bike.

Our bar will be open.

The HOG is scheduled to arrive via's SEPTA's Fox Chase line at 9:47am, The Roller Girls, with bikes behind them, will be skating away with it at 10:00am.

Make a day of following the HOG! Hop on the Sugar House bus (for free) as it follows the HOG. Stay on as long you like; you can use SEPTA to get back. SEPTA's Fox Chase station is just a block away.

Glugging With Gordo

Join us for Glugging With Gordo when we welcome Nodding Head's head brewer Gordon Grubb. Nodding Head's Brew Pub may be closed, but they are back brewing their iconic Berliner Weisse and BPA at Philly Brewing until they find a new location.

Our bar manager Enrique used to work with Gordo at the old Nodding Head Brew Pub and we have scheduled this event on Enrique's day off so he can be here on the better side of the bar. Enrique scored some woodruff syrup from across the street at Reikers for those who like their Berliner Weisse green (and who doesn't?).

This Philly Beer Week, come hang out with Enrique and Gordo.

Fun With Stoudts

It wouldn't be Philly Beer Week without a Thursday night Stoudts event here at Hop Angel. Kevin Romer will be back.

Last year, Kevin had a really fun version of Minute to Win It. Who knows what he has up his sleeve for this year? We don't yet, but will by the end of May.

What we do know is that we will have lots of tasty Stoudts beers on tap. Stoudts has been making German style beers for over 2 decades. They know what they are doing. 8 to 10pm.

The image above is not specifically what to expect from this event, though who knows, it could be. What we do know is that if you google 'Kevin Romer Stoudt' that is one of the things that comes up, so we went with it.

Featured Drafts:
Stoudts Heffe
Stoudts Imperial Schwarzbie
Stoudts Multiple Personality Disorder IPL
